Manga Review – The Legend of Chun Hyang
This manga was based off a Korean legend and woven by CLAMP into a delightful tale of a girl named… you guessed it: Chun Hyang.
The story tells of a girl whose mother is a village shaman or medicine woman in a town that is governed by a corrupt official who takes advantage of women and extorts the townspeople through unreasonable taxes. Since I don’t want to spoil the rest of it for you, read the manga to find out more about this work.
The art is nice, as expected by CLAMP, and has that twist that the manga-ka have tastefully added to give the legend their own unique touch.
This is one of those manga that you cannot find online. Clamp no Lumiere has done a “oneshot”, but it really is just a short omake, rather than the actual story. You can find this one-volume work in bookstores that sell manga like Chapters or Barnes and Noble, depending on where you’re from. It’s been licensed by TokyoPop.
I would rate it a 9/10, but don’t take my word for it. Hopefully you’ll enjoy this manga as much as I did ^^
